Westfield NJ Recreation Information

There’s plenty to do in Westfield and no excuse to be bored.  So, here are some suggestions to stay busy in Westfield:

Westfield Symphony Orchestra

One of my favorites ways to spend an evening.   Considered to be among New Jersey’s premiere fully professional symphony orchestras, it’s one of Westfield’s jewels.  The orchestra offers popular concerts both near and far and a New Year’s Eve celebration that is always a sell-out.

The Choral Art Society of NJ

Coffee with a Conscience Concert Series

Sweet Sounds Downtown Jazz Festival

Takes place on Tuesday evenings in July and August in four different venues in Downtown Westfield.   Come downtown and grab a bite or just walk around and listen to wonderful relaxing music.

Annual Holiday Concert

Held in December each year to get everyone into the holiday spirit!  The program features the Westfield Community Concert Bank and the Edison Broadway singers.

Summer Concert Series

The Series is held at Mindowaskin Park on Thursday evenings from the end of June to the end of July.  Performers include the Westfield Community Concert Bank and the Westfield Swing Band.  You are invited to bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the show!

New Jersey Workshop for the Arts

Westfield Community Players

New Jersey Youth Theatre

Hedgehog & Feather Theatre Co.

Westfield School of Dance

Daddy-Daughter Dance

A wonderful evening for all school-aged girls from 1st to 6th grades and their fathers, sponsored by the Recreation Department.  The dance generally takes place in early spring at a local catering hall.

Rialto Movie Theatre

A classic movie theatre in the heart of Downtown Westfield showing current movies as well as digiplex specials such as live from the Metropolitan opera.  It’s taking a trip back in time in a movie going experience.

Westfield Area YMCA

Located on Clark Street, the Westfield Area YMCA serves as a local hub for fitness and community activities.  The “Y” offers fitness programs and a pool for the entire family.  It also has a popular childcare center and every summer has a camp that offers sports, art and crafts, field trips, music lesson, etc.

Westfield Memorial Park and Pool

This 19.1 acre complex, which includes the town pool, is located on Scotch Plains Avenue.  The grounds offer a large pool, diving pool and water slides along with picnic areas.  There are also tennis courts, baseball field, playing field and a playground.

Westfield Memorial Library

Located on East Broad Street, the Library offers a wealth of services including book clubs for both adults and youth, homework help, computer classes, art, senior programs and a plethora of other classes and programs.

Annual 5-miler & 1 Mile Fun Run

Traditionally held on a Saturday in April, beginning and ending in Tamaques Park.  The race is used as a fundraiser for the drug and alcohol-free Teen Programs.
