Milltown Schools
Milltown School District is home to two thriving schools, serving a K-8 population, with an average total of 725 students. Younger students attend Parkview School, which in recent years was refurbished and expanded. Parkview School houses an Integrated Pre-School program (IPS), a Multiple Disabilities Class (MDC) and a Kindergarten, which offers half-day sessions, and heterogeneous grouping K-3. Students in intermediate grades 4 through 8 attend Joyce Kilmer School in the center of town; grades 4-6 are structured in a self-contained organization, suitable to upper-elementary-school education, and grades 7-8 are structured in a departmentalized organization, suitable to middle-school education. Through a formal send-receive contract, approved by the Commissioner of Education, Milltown high school students are sent on a tuition basis to Spotswood High School, designated a Blue Ribbon School by the U. S. Department of Education. The 2006-2007 budget of $13 million supports Parkview School and Joyce Kilmer School, as well as the tuition for students attending Spotswood High School.
